HOW THE PORTRAIT PROCEEDS
Having your portrait painted is fun
well, it is for children. For adults, the experience ranges from bearable to entertaining. My goal is to ease any discomfort you may feel in being the center of attention and to help you enjoy the process.
THE FIRST MEETINGS
I begin by meeting with you for an hour in my studio or your location to discuss what you want to convey in the portrait:
· Size
· A sense of formality or informality
· Dress
· Attitude, pose, expression
· Lighting
· Your own ideas and more
During the first meeting or at a second one hour session, I develop references from digital, photographic and sketch sources for later use in my studio stage of work.
PAINTING IN THE STUDIO
Next, I move into the studio to complete the majority of the painting from further sittings, sketches and other references. I cheerfully welcome scheduled visits to my studio for "progress viewings."
THE FINAL SITTING
Finally, I do prefer a one hour sitting at my studio as a last step in completing the portrait and receiving your final approval. At that time we can discuss drying time and varnish, framing, shipment and unveiling.
YOUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION
Of course, the portrait you have commissioned is never finished until you are completely satisfied that I have not only captured an excellent likeness but also the impression and spirit you wish to convey.
Please know that this is only a guideline to follow; each step is adapted to your specific needs. I will enjoy every aspect of the process and I am confident that you will, too.
